Gold Coast Suns Score Goals With PILA group

The AFL’s newest team, the Gold Coast Suns, took to the field in their first official home game of the season on the 28^th May.  After their first couple of home games in Brisbane, the Suns were looking forward to their first hit out on their newly completed home ground, Metricon Stadium.

PILA group has been working in conjunction with the Suns, and construction company Watpac during the construction period. Both parties found that our sustainable fibreglass sports and streetscape products would be the perfect fit for the new stadium.  In total we have supplied some 21 poles for the site both internally and externally of the stadium.

This project has allowed PILA group to showcase the versatility of our product range through the various applications and sizes on display.  We have supplied our:

• Stadium height 15m/10m fibreglass goals,
• 9m and 15m fibreglass flagpoles, and
• Heavy duty 12m barrier netting poles.

The Suns Horticulture and Operations Manager Nick Jeffrey says, “The goal posts are fantastic and have added a new element to the footy ground (Metricon Stadium). The fibreglass poles are easy to handle and light to manoeuvre.”

All of our standard fibreglass poles come with a 7 year warranty, a hinge base for very easy installation, marine grade gel coat, low maintenance, and they are a low conductor of electricity.  All these features combine to make fibreglass the perfect hard-wearing material for public spaces.
