Blacktown City Council Avoids Expensive and Time-Consuming Excavation Thanks to PILA group

Blacktown International Sportspark was developed as a major playing and training venue for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and is now owned by Blacktown City Council. It is used by a range of elite sporting groups, with the AFL’s GWS Giants playing pre-season NAB Cup matches there.

In a decision to replace the old, heavy steel AFL goal posts on Oval 2, thousands of dollars and a considerable amount of time was saved with PILA group’s expertise in engineering and onsite experience allowing the structurally sound existing footings to be retained. Less experienced companies may have recommended an expensive and messy excavation of the old footings, but PILA’s hands-on Managing Director, Reece Wooldridge, retro-fitted the bases of the AFL goal posts on both Ovals 1 and 2 so that the goal posts from Oval 1 could be transferred to Oval 2 and new PILA 15m/10m aluminium tapered AFL goal posts could be installed on Oval 1.

Reece and the PILA onsite team have decades of experience installing goal posts around Australia and have also recently completed the installation of the AFL goal posts at the internationally acclaimed SCG. Enlist the experts to help you with your next upgrade.
