Centenary Oval Upgrades for NAB Challenge With PILA’s AFL Goal Posts

THE old mound in front of the Centenary Oval grandstand has been removed and replaced with a new retaining wall to align with AFL standards for the upcoming NAB Challenge match between the Adelaide Crows and North Melbourne Kangaroos.

As well as the redevelopment of the grandstand side of the field, the Port Lincoln Football League has invested in new goal posts, which will be taller than the old ones.

The league’s operations manager, Robyn Rowsell, said the new retaining wall, funded by the Port Lincoln City Council, and the goal posts, funded by the league, were long-term investments for Port Lincoln.

Mrs Rowsell said they were going to be great “not just for football, but for everyone who uses the area”.

The oval will be closed to all sport except local cricket matches as of next Monday until the NAB Challenge match on Sunday, March 1.

Both the redevelopment and (PILA AFL) goal post installation is expected to be finished by the end of the week.
