A-League in Albury

Council Ecstatic With PILA’s Support and Service in A-League Soccer Goal Post Project

The regional City of Albury put on a fantastic display of football when Melbourne Heart went head to head with Perth Glory in a battle for Hyundai A-League competition points. The match took place at Lavington Sports Ground where brand new FFA and FIFA compliant goal posts were installed by PILA in time for this A-League fixture.

In a first for the A-League, this game was not held in a major city but was taken to the people of regional city Albury on the border of NSW and Victoria. Football Federation Australia has pledged to connect the Hyundai A-League with regional Australia, and Albury with its rich football tradition was chosen as the starting point.

According to Albury mayor, Cr Alice Glachan, “for many years Albury has hosted trial games and warm up matches across all codes and we are often told that we are one of the best regional hosts in the country, both in delivery of events and our warm welcoming community spirit. All of our work has led to this point – an opportunity to host a match as part of the premiership season.”

In preparation for the televised game, Albury City Council in conjunction with Albury-Wodonga Football Association upgraded Lavington Sports Ground with a set of new FFA and FIFA compliant PILA football goals that included black net supports required for all televised games. Albury City Council’s Ros Walls was ecstatic with the support and service they received from PILA group, especially as this project was completed on short notice.
