PILA’s Rugby League Goal Posts Seen by More Than 4.6 Million People In One Night!
At PILA sport we’re keen NRL supporters, so discovering that our rugby league goal posts at ANZ Stadium were viewed by more than 4.6 million people on Sunday night made us extraordinarily proud! The 2014 NRL Grand Final between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs peaked at a massive 4.6 million viewers making it the highest rating NRL match of all time, and surpassing the previous weekend’s AFL Grand Final audience (3.5 million).
Spectators enjoyed the game never knowing what went on behind the scenes to get the goal posts in place last year. PILA and ANZ Stadium had been in consultation for months leading up to the installation, however it really came down to the last 2 weeks before the 2013 Charity Shield game to put a solution in place that solved several issues.
As a multi-sport venue, ANZ Stadium needed 15m goal posts for Rugby League, Rugby Union and AFL. Rather than providing unique goal posts for each code, PILA supplied a set of 15m uprights that could be placed in the appropriately spaced ground sleeves to accommodate all 3 football codes. Conversion to AFL is made simple with the inclusion of 10m point posts, and cross-bars with PILA’s unique clamping system for Rugby League and Rugby Union.
The success of this project came down to few key elements but most importantly it was PILA’s willingness to understand the customer’s needs that went beyond just requiring new goals. This allowed PILA to provide the right solution at the right cost and most importantly, on time.
